Statism rests on a quivering foundation of self-contradiction Retweet
We advocate planting Mental Depth Charges in the subconscious mind. Mental Levers are excellent tools for this purpose.
By the way, calling someone a “statist” is not name-calling. Statists advocate a philosophy called statism. Statism is the belief that it’s morally justifiable to initiate coercive force. In their view, the government’s purpose is the advancement of their social or political goals.
Today’s offerings focus on statist self-contradictions…
- Statists contradict themselves by creating free-riders as a supposed cure for free-riders.
- Pardon the econo-babble-jargon, but… statists contradict themselves by creating externalities as a cure for externalities.
- Statists contradict themselves when they sacrifice the few for the sake of the many.
- Statists contradict themselves when they praise democracy while claiming that people need to be ruled.
We urge you to cause cognitive dissonance as a first step to social change.
Cognitive dissonance is internal confusion caused by the discovery of contradictory beliefs. This confusion causes stress that seeks resolution.
Exposing self-contradictions can induce dissonance. Therefore…
- Learn about these statist self-contradictions.
- Gently share them with others.
Once planted in peoples’ minds these ideas will begin to work subconsciously, leading to gradual change over time.
The Zero Aggression Project’s Mental Levers are mini-articles that present key libertarian ideas in bite-size chunks. Absorb them. Use them. Share them with others. Indeed…
The most important thing you can do to help us with our mission is to share these ideas in social media conversations.
And if you value this tool, please help us with our modest monthly budget. Contributions and pledges are tax-deductible.
